A Wolverine stand alone would be cool, he's got a lot of background though, so it would depend on where they go with it.
An early Magneto story would be Schindler's List with mutants. Not sure how well it could be pulled off...
I don't see why a stand alone Wolverine would hurt the character. It's a pretty interesting caractere. If they can have him in a gazillion comic books, then they can have a couple movie with him imo.
